Review of the 10th meeting of the
Northeast Clean Language Practice Group
Alington House, Durham, Saturday 11th September 1998
What an interesting day! We started with a fascinating discussion
on many and varied topics (actually we started with a coffee!)
including running more workshops for developing and practising
skills. We also talked about extending practise to more than just
developing skills in using Clean Language questions, into areas
such as practising identifying and using resource symbols.
We also decided on a name (having moved from Middlesbrough to
Durham), something like "the Northeast Clean Language Practice
Group", but maybe "Northeast Grovian Metaphor Therapy
and Clean Language Practice and Experience Group" - or is
that too much? (How about 'NGMTACLPG'?)
We also talked about the underlying philosophy of this whole approach
and the spiritual dimension.
Having had a good chat (and another coffee) we got down to some
practice. The exercise was around developing flexibility and information
gathering skills. Here's how the exercise ran:
- write down the three questions which you find get you the
most/best information
- now do a piece of work with someone using any and all questions
except the three you listed.
Then came lunch.
After lunch we split into two groups and did some more practice.
Andy and Maureen N went to experiment with using Clean Language
to explore someone's perception of time, whilst Jan, Maureen M
and I carried on with some of the themes from the morning's exercise.
After another comfort break we rounded off with a discussion which
started off on the topic of the collective unconscious and covered
such various topics as pre-cognitive dreams, training days and
who was going to have the last biscuit.
